ENTHRONEMENT
OF THE
SACRED HEART OF JESUS
IN THE
CHANCERY
♥OPENING
BISHOP: Opening Remarks
BISHOP:
This may be one of the most important gatherings in our Chancery offices since the Enthronement brings countless blessings to our Diocese. By the Enthronement we proclaim Jesus as King who rules over us through love….but He is more like a Father than a ruler. He becomes our generous Provider, our Guide, our Friend, our Counselor, our spiritual Physician, our constant Companion, the unseen guest at every meal.
We certainly want Him to be all these things because each and every one of us needs His help. It is not always easy to be good and do good. We can’t do it alone, but with Jesus’ help, we can.
Reading from Deuteronomy 7:6-12
BISHOP:
Jesus is your Lord and He rules through His Heart! He desires to be enthroned as King and Lord of your hearts and of the various offices within in the Chancery of the Diocese of ____________ as your brother and friend. He longs to share your work, your everyday life, your joys as well as your sorrows.
Scripture says, “My people, whom I love so dearly, behold I stand at the door and knock: if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him and he with Me.” (Rv 3:20)
Jesus is your Savior and your Liberator. He wants to save you from the evil forces working to destroy you, to liberate all from the slavery of sin and the shackles of fear, depression and worry.
Jesus is ready to release in these various offices of the Chancery of the Diocese of _____________ the power of His Spirit. He is the Healer, the Consoler, the Sanctifier, and the Teacher. But Jesus will not force His way into your heart or this place. He wants to be invited. He is waiting to hear you say to Him:
ALL: Come, Lord Jesus! Stay with us; we need you! Be the Lord, the Brother, our friend. Send us
your Holy Spirit and give us new hearts, a new spirit! Say to us as you did to John: “Surely I am coming soon.” (Rev. 22:20)
BISHOP: Yes the Father loves you, Jesus loves you, the Holy Spirit loves you. What have you
to fear? His Wounded Heart is the sign and pledge of His merciful love. His Heart is open to receive you.
♥BLESSING OF IMAGES BY THE BISHOP
♥PROCESSION AND ENTHRONEMENT
Carrying the image of the Sacred Heat of Jesus, all members process in song to the place of honor.
Votive lights are carried as a sign of our covenant with the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Processing to the Bishop’s office (the first office to enthrone Jesus as King), all arrive at the “throne” and gather in a semi-circle. While holding the image the BISHOP proclaims:
I NOW ENTHRONE JESUS AS KING, LORD, AND FRIEND OF MY OFFICE AS THE BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF _________________________.
The BISHOP then places the image of the Sacred Heart in the selected place of honor.
The Bible is placed near the image.
ALL: We are nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ and the Word of God.
God is enthroned as King forever! (Ps. 29) All that the Lord has said, we will heed and do.
(Ex. 24:7)
BISHOP: As an act of faith in the teachings of Christ, the King of Truth, and as an act of reparation
for all society which ignores these, let us say the Apostles’ Creed together in solidarity for the Enthronement of Jesus as King over the various offices within the Chancery of the Diocese of ____________________.
ALL: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day he arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy CatholicChurch, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
♥ACT OF CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART
The Bishop faces the image and, together with those representing the various offices holding their images, all entrust themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Act of Consecration:
ALL: Jesus, we enthrone you as King and proclaim you as Lord and Friend in the offices represented
here within the Chancery of the Diocese of _____________. Yes, Lord, we do want you to rule over our work, our hearts, and our wills through your loving heart. We want you to share our everyday life; our joys and sorrows. Be our well-beloved Brother, our intimate Friend!
Come, Lord Jesus, come! Our hearts are open to you. Stay with us, we need you. Release within us the power of your Spirit, the Healer, the Consoler. Save us from the evil forces seeking to destroy us.
Our Father in Heaven, take away our stony hearts and give us new hearts, unselfish, generous and pure hearts filled with love for you! Heal our hearts, bind up our wounds, unite us in love. May our love go beyond our gatherings and inspire us to love those in need as Jesus loves us.
Lord Jesus, to your loving, glorified Heart, your wounded Heart, we dedicate, we consecrate our weak our selfish hearts. We humbly acknowledge that without you, we can do nothing; but with your help and your grace, we can do all things; even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we fear no evil, for you are with us, your rod and your staff, they comfort us.
Mary, Mother of theChurchand our Mother, help us to be a true reflection of yourChurch, that is a worshiping, praying community of love.
GoodSt. Joseph, Head of the Holy Family, watch over us as you watched over Jesus and Mary atNazareth. Obtain for each of us that same loving trust in Divine Providence that sustained you in all your trials.
