Msgr. Esseff reflects on the nature of prayer.  Whatever we ask of Father in the name of Jesus will be given to you, according to Scripture.  What is it that we want from God?  Riches?  Health? Reputation? Honor?  But what makes the desire that we have a greater gift compared to what God wants to give us?  Could it be that God, by not giving what you are asking for, is actually giving your something better?  A loving Father wants for you the ultimate good. God, in His infinite care, may want to give you something greater.  The greatest thing to ask for is not so much what you want, but for what God in His infinite mercy wants to give you.  If this be His holy will, then let it be.
