Msgr. Esseff reflects on the liturgy of Palm Sunday. He breaks open the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. Christ is established as the King, but it is not going to be an earthly kingship. Msgr. Esseff speaks of the significance of the colt, the palms, the procession into Jerusalem. He also encourages us to ponder ahead of time the Passion Gospel before going to mass. What does this say about life in this world? We are the ones Jesus saved by His death. We hail him as our savior and king…however, it was not the Jews, it was not the political and religious leaders that brought about His death, no, it was us. On this Palm Sunday, we are present to proclaim in our body, minds and hearts, ”Never Again!” We are prepared to suffer now with Him, we are not going to allow Him to suffer alone. We are not reflecting on what happened then, but what is happening in us now. What He did, I am now doing. Who’s getting on the donkey? Who is riding in the procession? Who is being betrayed? In the world today, we are Jesus. Through Him, with Him, in Him….how will you be Jesus for the world?
